Summer fishing is just around the corner so let's all start getting
ready and planning for some fun in the sun! Being along the Gulf Coast,
one of the events that is always looked forward to each year are the
Fishing Tournaments during the summer months- This year is no
different! With the weather getting warmer and thoughts returning to
the ocean; I wanted to take this time to share one of my favorites with
those of you who fish.
The Pensacola Bud Light King Mackerel Cobia Tournament is scheduled for
June 27 & 28. You can access the site by using the link that is
attached to the photo below. This year there will be a combination of
both shallow water or in shore as well as off shore. The prizes are
attractive and looking forward to a long weekend on the water makes
these rainy and chilly days that much easier to deal with!
The tournament will be based out of Pensacola Beach with the weigh-ins
at Flounders Chowder House each night. The captains meeting will be
Friday night and the awards will be Sunday- I'll be taking advantage of
the option to check in w/ the Committee Boast on Saturday & Sunday
which will be anchored @ Deer Point Buoy until 0900 each day. For those
who are challenged, that is located at N3020.318 and West 8710.969.
With this tournament limited to daylight fishing hours only, all boats
will be required to check in each day- I know, lots of fuel coming in
and going out but still- it also means a fresh shower every night and a
'real' bed to sleep in hahahahha I am just guessing this will be the
indulgent tournament of the summer- My final decision of weekend
accommodations hasn't been made but I'll probably be at Portofino or
that other property that I play at often.
This should be a really fun laid back tournament. There is also a
smaller boat class with boats 23 feet and under so that will add to the
fun- I know- the smaller boats always complain that they can't compete
so this will help eliminate that- With both the shallow water as well
as the in-shore categories I am confident everyone will have fun.
The photos below are linked with information sites and other
information related to the tournament. Be sure to say hello if you
happen to be fishing that weekend. XoXo -Lee
